I love YouTube. It has gotten so popular that most of the time it is my first and only stop when browsing for a video. They’re truly making it hard for alternative video sites to enter this huge market. However, many great alternative sites have found ways to distinguish themselves and they might be worth your while to check out :

  • Metacafe : offers producer rewards to people who submit videos. 5$ for every 1,000 views.
  • Daily Motion : mostly focused on Europe users but quite nice
  • Break.com : Videos, pics etc. Shares revenues.
  • Flurl : a bit more edgy. Some might say offensive :O
  • ifilm : quite popular site. Very nice.
  • EyeBum : categorized to find tv shows, movies, cartoons. Clean design, easy to browe.
  • CollegeHumor : Vids and pics. ‘School’ browsing available.
  • Flixya : shares revenues.
  • LiveLeak : focused on, you guessed it, media leaks.
  • Veoh : vids, series, tv content.

And of course you have the other mainstream ones :

There’s also Digg’s video section, for user-voted videos. Most alternate sites to YouTube I find have better browsing options such as tags, easier categories to choose from and additional stuff like pictures and special features (girl-of-the-week etc.). Enjoy!
